Podcast 51: We Take Grabbing Straws To Another Dimension

Bolton Wanderers, eh? You can’t beat ‘em. Well – not for four games anyway. Before that, just about anybody could beat them. Including Tranmere. But has this run of draws (and one win) led to optimism and hope? No – far from it. It’s a tough time to support the Whites which is why we are taking our straw-clutching to new heights!

In this week’s Podcast, we have for you:

  • The Quick-Fire Review: Sheffield Wednesday – A DRAW!! COYWM!!
  • StatZone: how this season compares to last – WE CAN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!
  • Know Your Enemy – WE WILL DEFEAT THEM!
  • Folking Marvellous – DOUGIE DOUGIE DOUGIE DOUGIE!
  • …plus the usual Wanderers natter.

We Are The One And Only Wanderers! And we will be bloody upbeat about it.

Dear sirs,

It has been brought to our attention that you are laying claim to the use of the phrase ‘Know Your Enemy’.

We would like to point out that this particular phrase was used in an issue of The Normid Nomad fanzine in about 1988.

We are currently looking into taking full legal recourse against TMIW, The Manic Street Preachers, Rage against the Machine and anyone else who thinks they’re the first to do anything.

People who used it before us of course will be let off due to a legal loophole.

See you in court!

Haha, brilliant. I confess I’ve not read that particular 1988 issue of The Normid Nomad so *doths cap* credit where credit’s due. RATM and The Manics, yeah we’ll let them off as they’re the inspiration and not using it for a match opposition preview feature ‘n that ;) It’s just a bit unimaginative and downright cheeky I’d say for one of the few other Wanderers blogs out there at the moment to recently start using that particular name for their preview when it’s been a steady regular feature of ours (jingle and all) for the last few years. There must be plenty of other phrases that could be used other than one we’ve arguably made our own with our use of it (and to be honest I hadn’t ever heard of it in use in this way before we started using it).
